At 0724 I found Kekoa (RK72) just hauling out at Rabbit Island and moving up to the Morning Glory, 80 ft right of 3BS. He would do his cruiser male thing through the day but ended up right back where he started.
At 0727 Sadie&Pup (D#39)(RB12) hauled out to the left end of the island. Since she weaned in 2014 at 39 days, and last year at 40 days, I was very much stressed to see what her plan was for today. They remained together all day through the observation period.
The quiet RI day was disrupted by the arrival of chronic Bad Guys who arrived via an outrigger canoe at 1016. I’ve been trying to bust these guys for years but can never get DOCARE to be in the right place at the right time. Today was a continuation of that. One of the guys went on to the island, TWICE but my first DOCARE call was met with an endlessly ringing phone, and on the 2nd call the much dreaded”the office is closed” recorded message came on, telling you that there ain’t gonna’ no justice today ! Sad, Sad, Sad !
Marilyn called at 0823 with the report of what she believed to be Cass (RG06) at Spitting Cave. She confirmed the Cass ID at 0852 with a G06 tag shot. Melanie advised that Cass remained on her shift
At 1129 Hanauma Bay posse member Ethel called to advise that an animal was just hauling out to the left side rock flats at HB. While I was in route she called again to day that snorkelers had spotted him on the rocks, and had run him off. He was last seen by Ethel at the mouth of the bay. It is an U/U certainly, but I gotta’ cat on Buster , guarans !
At 1311 I found Kolohe (RW22) on the Lanai Lookout Flats. ID was by his partial LHF RW22 tag. Melanie advised that he was still there on her shift.
It's just sooo wrong
Kekoa

Kolohe

Aloha Leesa and Trey! After meeting you and seeing Cass at Spitting Cave I went further down the road and found Kolohe at Lanai Lookout. So glad you were able to see seals and turtles during your stay. Hope you had a smooth trip back to Harrisburg; it was great chatting with you. The type of lei worn on the head I mentioned is called a haku lei, and maile lei is made from leaves. Hope you can get back to Hawaii some day!!! Best regards, Melanie
