Marilyn & I both set out at 0530. She to AD and I to the rest of the SE quadrant. She called at 0538 to report that Kaiwi (RK96) was right where we’d left her last night at the “party tree” but heading toward the water. She was still there when I arrived but ate 0604 Kaiwi entered the water, and began a a series of 4 round trips between her starting point, and a point just beyond the AD Wall. Karen Rohter and I covered many a hectare in pursuit of the girl, back and forth and back & forth and.... Finally, at 1100 Kaiwi hauled out at a spot approximately 300 ft east of the AD Wall. We put up the SPZ and she has remained the rest of the day. Mahalos to Karen R, Gayle,Melanie, Nicole,and of course Missus W. Marilyn called at 1919 to advise that Kaiwi had entered the water at 1910 and moving down toward the morning starting location at the party tree. Gayle was placing signs.
Our little Weaner hauled out fronting 1BS at 1300. Visibility left something to be desired, but today just as with everyday since I’ve gotten looks at the ventral side, I gotta’ go with female. The NOAA crew will be going out this week to tag the pup, and we’ll know for sure , but I gotta’ cat on female.
Gayle called at 1400 to advise that Kolohe (RW22) was at Lanai Lookout. Marilyn also checked and he was still there.A Lesley email in the early morning brought a shot of Nihoa&Pup, and at 1805 she came through again with the news of RW02 at Camp Erdman.
Last but not least, Happy 4th Birthday to Aukai (RL12).
