At 0833 Hanauma boss, posse member Tara called with the report of their Security Guard of an animal at Toilet Bowl. When my aching knees finally got there at 0913 I found a snoozin’ Buster (RV08). I was especially happy to see him since he had last been seen on the west side, and no reports for a few days now, and in light of recent events, I got a great deal of comfort in knowing that he was back home.
At 1123 Gayle called with the report of Kaiwi (RK96), foraging at Spitting Cave. I was hoping to find her at China Walls in the afternoon, but alas that was not to be the case.
At 0625 Team Billand reported an over nighted Benny (RE74) at the Makaha Surfside Condos. He departed at 1100.
At 0647 they found Pohaku (RO28) at Uleawa Beach Park. She departed at 1851.
At 1118 the Billands found Kolohe (RW22) at Maili Point.
Tammy T., did the End of the World trek today, and reported Ka’ena (RO40), RW02 & Squinty (R330) at Ka’ena Point. Mahalos TT!
On my daily Instagram check I found shots of what appears to be Right Spot (R016) at Waimea Bay on the 27th & 28th. ID was by her uniquely notched RHF. I checked with Dana, and learned that there had been no reports.
As you may well have seen on one of the local news programs this evening, NOAA has announced their findings on Kimo Kai, after the necropsy. Michelle says there was no definitive cause seen. As is often the case, they are awaiting lab results.
