On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0722 I found RM38, 40 ft left of 1BS, and an 85% molted RK36 at Left Greenery.
When I got back to Makai Pier at 0823 the cast remained the same , however at 0932 RM38 would enter the water shortly after Duke (RA12)& Kolohe (RW22) arrived at 50 ft left of IBS. RM38 would haul out to join RK36 at Left Greenery at 0937.
While watching Kolohe & Duke, at 1006 I suddenly became aware of a small animal moving down, out of the Morning Glory, 50 ft left of 1BS. It would prove to be Kainoa (RN04). I was completely unware of him until he moved out of his hiding spot in the Morning Glory. At 1030 I took up residence on the park bench at the Sandy Beach out fall.
At 1205 Kea (RN46) arrived, and hauled out to the outfall. I cordoned him off. Kimo Smith said he saw Kea looking for a haul out spot at 0805 at the outfall, but the tide was working him too badly. Kimo lost him at 0812. Kea remained at dark.
Melanie C., called at 1238 with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at China Walls.
At 0700 Team Billand reported Makaiwi (R4DF) at the fence line, White Plains. She would depart at 0804. At 0850 they reported Haupu (RB24) fronting the Surf Shack, WP.
Dana calledat 1416 with a report of RI37 at Laniakea. Awaiting photos.
In yesterday’s blog I told you that Kimo Smith had reported what we believed to be Temp#402 sporting a new V ? bleach. Email from Tracy this afternoon brought word that it was not , in fact ,Temp#402, but a new male critter with the designation Temp#302, with a newly assigned Kauai bleach # of V7. This marks the first Oahu sighting of this animal.
