At 0717 I found Kainoa (RN04), 70 ft right of 3BS on Rabbit Island, snoozin’ up in the Morning Glory.
At 0730 Kolohe (RW22) hauled out and began to move up to Kainoa, however Kainoa began moving down to meet him. Both would enter the water at 0733. They would haul out together at 1004, fronting 3BS, and would remain there the rest of the day.
At 0942 Kaiwi (RK96) hauled out and moved up to the Morning Glory, 40 ft right of 3BS. Unfortunately it would take the entire day before I could make the Kaiwi ID, and contact Tracy. By that time it was too late to pull together a team and amass the equipment for an RI mission. Maybe tomorrow ???????
At 0717 Team Billand reported Makaiwi (R4DF) fronting #1708B, White Plains.
At 1017 the Billands found RIP (RR70) at Kalaeloa Campgrounds.
The highlight of the day came with a call from Lesley at 0925 reporting the R5AY had pupped on the North Shore. I’ll leave it at that and advise you to check the blog in the morning for eyewitness accounts. Daughter Kaikaina (RL54) was there for the event, and La’akea (RK82) stopped by later. This is the first January birth that I am aware of.
At 1109 posse member Christian Young called with the report of Rocky (RH58) in her favorite trough at Magic Island.
Team Billand called at 1345 to advise that a WP volunteer had called them with the report of the arrival of two more animals to 1708. When the Billands arrived they confirmed the Buster (RV08) & Kermit (R012) ID.

Looks like Kea has found a great place to rest, no one to bother him. He sure does like sleeping on rocks and hard surfaces.
How cool and unusual is that- Kaikaina was there when
Mom had her pup, guess she wanted to welcome her new sister.
