Also at 0713 I found what would prove to be Duke (RA12), though it took until 1400 to finally make the ID.
On my 2nd look at Rabbit Island at 0937 I found that Kaiwi (RK96) & Kainoa (RN04) had joined the cast, at 3BS.
Team Billand checked in at 0642 with the report of Ewa Girl (RS00) overnighted at Wind Sock. She would depart at 0654 just as the Billands were finishing the cordon (I hate it when that happens).
The highlight of the day came at 0855 with a call from the Billands reporting Makaiwi (R4DF) at Maili Beach Park. She had last been reported on Kauai, on 11-1-13. Her last Oahu sighting had been at WP on 10-11-13. Her dorsal wound has significantly healed but is still visible according to the Billands. Photos will , of course, be forthcoming. WONDERFUL !!!!
At 1020 they reported U’ilani (RN36) at a separate location on the Reef Runway
At 1236 the Billands found Benny (RE74) fronting #1706, White Plains.
At 1258 they reported that Buster (RV08) had hauled out to Benny’s location . They had brief words, and Buster returned to the shallows and departed at 1315.
At 1449 Team Billands reported Kolohe (RW22) at Maili Pt. The animal had been run off when they arrived the the guy doing the running off said he saw a "22" on a tag. Vera reported the same animal.
At 1520 the Billands found Kermit (R012) just hauling out to Wind Sock.
At 1707 Team Billand observed a fish hook in Kermit’s right lower jaw. Awaiting photos and further info.
Evening email from Diane Gabriel brought news that she and Karen Turner had found Kaikaina (RL54) at the elbow, Turtle Bay. It is also that time of the year, when Karen returns to some place over the rainbow call Florida. You will be missed Karen, as always.
Lastly, a Yahoo SNAFU last night did not attach the Rocky shots at Irma's Grotto yesterday. Since Marilyn & Gayle trudged out the flats to get them I thought I'd add them in the Yesterday's News department. Rocky was a no show today.
Rocky from Yesterday at Kokee Flats
Kaikana looking rather GREEN must be something in the waters between turtle bay and ka'ena point we have some pretty green characters swimming around
