11-6-11 DB Dailies

Marilyn and I were on it at 0600 as usual. Marilyn called at 0636 with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at the mouth of the west end estuary at AD. She got a couple of glimpses as she moved out of the inlet. She would later move to her nook, at 0726, and hauled out to her grassy patch, 300 yds east of the AD wall at 0842, where she remained the rest of the day.

At 0648 I found Nani (RK60) with Buster (RV08) close behind, just hauling out to the right of 1BS of Rabbit Island. Nani would move up into the Morning Glory, 30 ft left of 1BS. Buster followed but soon lost interest and returned to the water at 0658. He would haul out at 0757 and snoozed away the rest of the day there.

At 0730 I found Kolohe (RW22) at SRI. He would roll in the shallows for a while and then return to the water, and I lost him. At 0952 on a check from the Makapuu Overview I found that he had relocated to the Rocky Right Beach, and was visible only from the MO angle.

Hanauma Bay posse member, Ann called at 0848 with a report from divers that they had seen RK72/73 in waters near "Witches Brew" on the right side of HB. They had seen both tags. Apparently, Kekoa tired of the Rabbit Island scenery and returned to Hanauma Bay. I arrived at 0900 and spent time with the scope from on top, but never found anybody.

Team Billand checked in with the report of Kermit (R4DG) and Irma (R010) together fronting #1708 at White Plains. This was their last official act before departing on their twice yearly pilgrimage to Vegas. GOOD LUCK TEAM BILLAND!!! HAVE FUN, and hurry home.

Dana called around 1100 to advise that R5AY and La'akea (RK82) were at Right Spot's spot, and Right Spot (R016) was further down the beach. Initially, there was also an U/U reported, but thanks to Karen Turner's photos, and Diga's timely help, I can state absolutely, at Lona (R017) is back, and now sporting some new scars over her left eye, in addition to her other markers.

Dana called at 1657 to advise that Ua Malie had also joined the cast, making today's TB count a respectable 5 critters. It's beginning to look like Rabbit Island up there.

Dana checked in again to advise of a report of T15M, and an U/U at Makaha. A just received photo confirms the T15M (Sharkbite) ID, but I can only say that the other animals is probably a male, based on the discoloration in the appropriate area, but that is as close as I can come. Given the location I'd put half a cat on Benny, but ?????

In the Yesterday's News" department, Vera Cober sent photos of her day at Turtle Bay yesterday. She provided her usual excellent photos of R5AY, Right Spot and La'akea.

It always makes me nervous when I see tire tracks on the beach... hopefully these are from the life guard ATV... but I know at AD there are some people who are actually driving on the beach... Not cool.
Kermit looking small compared to Irma.... and is he starting his molt? or just some new scratches?

Thanks guys to everyone at Turtle Bay for a VERY busy weekend. I don't know how many phone calls were going on, but suffice it to say there was a need to plug in several times throughout the day. White Plains and Makaha were somewhat outdone by the Northshore babes. Do I need to point out that maybe two people on each shift might be a good idea? Not just about weaners anymore. Keep an eye out for schedules and upcoming programs. HUGE MAHALO to everyone for so much help this weekend.
