Miss Irma was at EWA BEACH, ACCESS 187-A, thanks to a call from a caring man who found her 4:30pm YESTERDAY. Irma was stilll there today and snuggled up against the mans wall.
Now, Officer who took the 450 ft of net...GOD BLESS YOU. YOU HAVE KEPT OUR CRITTERS ALIVE AND WELL, by taking all of that deadly netting out. You truly are our HERO forever!!! OH MY GOSH...THAT IS A FRICKEN NIGHT MARE!!!!!! And thanks to the fishermen who spotted it and to DB who was there and made the call. Team work...by all. These guys who lay nets are scarey...and leave them in the water for days, just horrible!!!
I wish with my soul, we could ban lay nets forever...like Maui. How did they do that???? These nets kill any thing and every thing in its path...Thanks to all...for being there...you are ANGELS!!!
Since this net was illegal in most every respect - longer, doubled, and unattended - a ban probably would have been flaunted too. Laws are only effective when they can be/are enforced; I doubt a name and address were found with this net. But maybe the authorities will find some clues or from word of mouth.
