7-14-11 DB Dailies

The first pass through the SE Quadrant was a bust, but when I got back to Makai Pier at 0815 I found Buster (RV08) just hauling out, 60 ft left of 1BS, on Rabbit Island. At 1023, Nani (RK60), hauled out, 100 ft left of 1BS. At 1041, on a pan I found that both animals were gone. At 1042 I found them playing together, in the shore break, 80 ft left of 1BS. The trail evidence on the sand indicated that Buster had galumphed over to Nani's location, and they had entered the water together. At 1046 both animals hauled out, however Buster quickly returned to the water. At 1117 he would haul out again to rejoin Nani. There was just minimal belly nuzzling. They remained together the rest of the day. At 1229 I found Duke (RA12) just hauling out to the Waimanalo side of Left Point Beach, at the left end of the island. He would remain there the rest of the day.

Team Billand called at 0824 to advise that Iroquois Point posse member Clay Gates, had reported T21M.
Team Billand did 1000 - 1200 with Ewa Girl and Kekoa at the Reef Runway. Barbara reported that they were 400 ft off shore nearly the entire time, coming back to shore for a feed at 1144. They had to leave at noon, so there was very little quality time with Mom and the kid.

At 1205 the Billands reported that they were responding to a Dera call about an animal at KoOlina. When they arrived they found signs and cones, but no critter. Witnesses described R018 perfectly. When Barbara checked Secret Beach, she found a quicky, come..look..leave animal that was impossible to ID. She felt it might be Makaiwi, but it was definitely not R018.  At 1352 the Billands found Irma (R010) at Palm Grove, Campbell Industrial Park.
