7-6-11 DB Dailies

On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0628, I found Nani , with Kolohe (RW22) in pursuit at the mid Middle Cliff area. I lost them behind the water front rocks. When I got back to Makai Pier later I found Nani draped across Nani sized boulders at Right Greenery, and Kolohe snoozin' on the water front rocks, 50 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet.

Also at 0628 I found I found what would prove to be Sadie (RB12) at Rocky Right Beach. She was not visible from Makai Pier. On an 1136 recheck from Makapuu Overview I found that Sadie was gone. I did not see her again today.

When I got back to Makai Research Pier at 0825 I found that Nani was now draped across some Nani sized water front rocks at Right Greenery, and Kolohe was snoozin' on the water front rocks 50 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet.

After a mid day recheck of the SE quadrant, I got back to Makai Pier to find that Duke (RA12) had joined the cast on the far left end of the beach. I also noted that Nani was no longer visible. Kolohe remained on the water front rocks at the right end. At 1411, Nani hauled out, 80 ft left of 3BS, and Kolohe joined her. There was minimal interaction, and they remained together for the rest of the day. It's good to see that she is beginning to meet her young cousins. They will help her development a lot.

At 0700 Team Billand called to report Irma (R010) fronting #1778, Nimitz Cottages. At 0714 they reported 2AW fronting #1945 Nimitz Cottages. The Billands called at 0937 to advise of a Dera call about 2 animals at White Plains. They said that Dana was sending somebody. Jan & Jerry Dill responded and reported "N23" (M&M), and an U/M at 1023 . The Billands would confirm the ID's as M&M (R020)and RIP (RO70) at 1500. M&M would have weaned Nani Monday evening, and today (Wednesday) she is a White Plains.... amazing !! She no doubt picked up RIP as she passed the Reef Runway. I'm sure Ewa Girl is glad to be rid of him. At 1409 Team Billand found R018 at Maili Beach.

On their 1500 check of Nimitz Beach, the Billands reported that 2AW was now within the cordon around Irma, and that Max (R5EW) was now at Nimitz Cottages fronting #1811. He would depart at 1632. Team Billand called at 1632 to advise that Benny (RE74) had hauled out briefly to Irma & 2AW, and words were exchanged. Benny reentered the water and hauled out again down the beach, fronting #1811.

In the "Yesterday's News" department, posse member Lesley and her FaceBook connects came through again with shots from Ewa Beach (7-5-11) showing Rocky (RH58) and T21M together as reported in last nights daily.

Lastly, Ka'ena (RO40) becomes a man today. He is 5 yrs old today. Happy Birthday Ka'ena.
