7-18-11 DB Dailies

At 0643 I found Kolohe (RW22), 60 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet, on Rabbit Island. I thought there might be another animal with him, but it would be 1220 before I could prove that Nani (RK60) was there with Kolohe. They would remain there all day.

At 0930 I found Buster (RV08) 60 ft left of 1BS. He would enter the water at 1237, and haul out to have words with Kolohe at 1249. He got prime positioning on Nani, but Kolohe would not leave. Buster and Nani did a short swim/play session, but Buster tired of the game and departed at 1328, returning to his intial location at the left end of the beach. Kolohe, who had remained in the area all along, returned to join Nani as soon as Buster departed.

Team Billand called at 0850 to report that posse member ,Frank had called to report T21M at Iroquois Point. Clay Gates photos confirm the ID. The Billands called again at 0907 to advise that they were responding to KoOlina, after a Dera call, reporting an animal there. When they arrived at 0950 they found Irma (R010).

Later, at 1029 Team Billand called to advise that tourists had alerted them to another animal on the outside of the breakwater. It would prove to be R018. Irma and R018 would depart together when the rising tide got to them at 1515.

At 0959 the Billands reported Max (R5EW) on the east side of the east end perimeter fence at White Plains. Thanks to Vera Cober for all the help. The Billands called at 1612 to advise that on their recheck of the location they found that Max had been joined by M&M (R020) and RIP (RR70). Max departed at 1743, but M&M and RIP remain.

In the "Day Before Yesterday's News" department I got photos from Larry Stamey, taken at Ka'ena Point on Saturday, 7-16-11. His shots confirm Kerby (RW08), Ka'ena (RO40) and 761 at the end of the world. Mahalo Larry !

Lastly, on a personal note... I got "the" letter two weeks ago. I've been ranting, raving and raging ever since, but like the old jokes says, tomorrow begins "my turn in the barrel". Yep..... the letter contained the two 4-letter words I hate most in the language........... JURY DUTY !!! Argggggggggh !!!!!! Sending you good vibes for a settled or dismissed case. I had jury duty last month and was fortunate to have a settled case.

Thanks to Clay and Frank for looking out for T21M at Iroquios.
At Paradise Cove, when we saw Irma on reef, we wondered, how the heck are we going to protect her. Upon arrival, all the folks were dead center of her and yellling, having fun.We quickly thought about it, then this local guy, Kelii, came rushing over, asking us, you like me put the signs in the water for you. We went..YES!!! How deep is the water? Kelii said, oh shallow Auntie, I get em for you. So we gave the guy three signs, and out he went. We put the rest in a C shape and that was great..it worked out fine. People stayed back, Irma stayed in same spot all day long. And while we walked up to take a look, a man went...HEY, is that another seal??? We went, Holy Crap, YES, Its R018!! Cool. R018 stayed at his spot, on edge of reef, just 100 ft. of Irma. But the waves kept hitting him, and in the later of day, moved to another spot, heading to Irma. I guess he got her whiff, he then quickly galumped over the reef, seeing Irma. But Irma was so smart, heard his fat body galumphing at 60 miles per hour, quickly turned into the lagoon. Thats when Linda and i went charging for our signs, removing them. But Irma was brilliant, made a turn, and calmly headed left out of the lagoon, passing unsuspecting snorklers. She passed them too, NEAT!! And here came poor R018, hauling it off the rocks, dived into the lagoon, looking for Irma like a SHARK!! We got all the people back away from R018, he swiftly passed all the folks, and was out into the opened sea. JOB DONE!! But poor Linda forgot about her bag in hand which got wet!!! Her cell and camera in there...OH MY GOSH!!! Hope your phone and camera are ok Linda!!!!!!! And thanks for helping in the last hour or so. It was appreciated. Wasnt that amazingly cool??? Two seals at Paradise cove??? Awesome and folks were very good, turtles knocked over signs..that was funny. And the local guy left, so we had to look after our signs, in the water, which was so nice to enter after being in the hot sun allllll day long. Nice ending, for a change. Yeah!!!!!!!!!
