5-24-11 DB Dailies (New Pup)

My day began atd 0542 with a call from surfer posse member Dave Martin, reporting an animal at the showers at Diamond Head.

Unfortunately, Colleen's day started at 0543 with a call from me. (I was going for voicemail....honest ). At 0618 she confirmed Irma (R010) just to the Waikiki side of the showers. She was still there on the 1000 check, but gone on the 1200 check.

I decided to change my morning routine, and check Rabbit Island, very first thing. At 0605 I found M&M (R020) and her NEW PUP !!
1 , at mid beach , above Seal Rock Inlet. By 0840 they were beginning to move down to the water line for the day, in the inlet, thereby remaining only partially visible for the remainder of the day. Mom was partially visible.... the kid was outta' sight except for the occasion "flailing flipper" above the rocks, when it would try to roll over. There were very few photo ops today, but we've got 42 days to go. There has to be a good shot in there somewhere. M&M has given us the first Oahu pup of the year. The adventure continues.

Despite morning and afternoon checks of the SE Quadrant, no other critters were found.
Team Billand checked in at 0731 with the report of Makaiwi (R4DF) fronting #1806 at Nimitz Cottages.  At 0830 they reported Ewa Girl (RS00) just east of the "Fire Surf School" at Kalaeloa Campgrounds. She was gone on their 1520 check.  At 0953 came the Billand report of Kermit (R4DG) fronting #1708, and Max (R5EW) between the Snack Bar, and Tower #2. Max departed at 1753.  (I will update the rest of the photos later today.... on the way to airport, needed to share the good news!)
