5-28-11 DB Dailies

At 0638 I found M&M (R020) w/ Pup, at mid beach, Seal Rock Inlet, on Rabbit Island. They would remain all day, moving down and up with the tide. The kid showed excellent strength today, and was much more active. I observed two feeds, and two episodes of the kid moving into the shore break, on it's own, while Mom just watched, making no effort to join in.
Also at 0638 I found Duke (RA12) up in the Morning Glory behind Seal Rock Inlet.
When I got back to Makai Pier at 0830 I found that RIP (RR70) had joined the cast, 60 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet, When Duke started down, RIP galumphed over to join him. The would spend the rest of the day together. In my shots for today, Duke and RIP appear to be very close to Mom and the kid at Seal Rock Inlet, however that is a foreshortening problem with the scope. When I relocated to the Makapuu Overview to check their locations, they proved to be 30 to 40 ft away from Mom and kid. Mom never showed any concern at all for their presence.
On our 0740, Spitting Cave check we would Buster (RV08) and Kolohe (RW22). Dive times were all over the place due to play activity. We observed many ups, and also watched them depart around the point headed in an easterly direction. My guess is they are on their way back to RI, however I did not see them at RI today.
At 0728 Team Billand reported Makaiwi (R4DF) fronting #1701 at Nimitz Cottages. She would depart at 1447.
At 0755 the Billands found Kermit (R4DG) fronting #1706 at White Plains . He had apparently overnighted. Barbara reported a spewing episode at 1026, and later collected a sample. Kermit departed at 1121.
Dana reported an animal at KoOlina, Lagoon #2 at 1214. Diane Gabriel responded and confirmed Max (R5EW).
At 1256 Dana checked in with reports of an animal at Laniakea, which Kelly Evans would confirm as RI37, and an animal reported at Mokuleia which Dana confirmed as KC (RK28). Photo are on the way.
I am aware that many a volunteer was out there today, though I'm not clear on who was where. The bottom line is Thank Youuuuuuuu !!!!!! Ya' Done Good !!!!!
I got a call from posse member Ray,who reported an animal at Waialee Beach Park, on the North Shore. As I took him through the ID process, he described a perfect Right Spot (N6). He didn't have a camera . Posse member Lesley came through at 1717 , confirming Right Spot. Photos taken.
