6/9/2010 DB Dailies

On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0642 I found Ewa Girl and pup just preparing to enter the water at the left end of the beach. It would be the first of 3 observed swim sessions. There were also 3 observed feeds. In between.....lots of snoozin'.

Also at 0642 I found Sadie up in the Morning Glory, 60 ft left of 1BS, and Kolohe tucked into the base of the cliff, 30 ft left of 1BS. They would both move down independently, and entered the water together at 0941. I lost track of them in the choppy, windy conditions, but at 0953 Sadie hauled out 100 ft right of 3S, and at 0957 Kolohe hauled out to the right end of the Middle Cliff. All RI cast would remain there all day.

On my Spitting Cave check at 0715 , I found Buster for the 2nd consecutive day, doing 10 to 11 minute dives.

Team Billand called at 0656 to report Rocky just hauling out to the reef at Wind Sock. At 0734 Irma hauled out to Wind Sock, but on the beach. They called again at 0937 to report 4DF between the two bunkers just to the west of Wind Sock. On their 1400 check they found that Rocky had moved onto the beach (probably driven off the reef by the high tide), and that she was now 10 ft away from Irma.

In a bit of an oddity, Rocky entered the water, at 1500, only to haul out again along side Itrma at 1516. Incidently 4DF remains at the bunkers.
