Well this is one of the rare days where there were no seals seen by our posse.  Team R&B couldn't go until afternoon and the only critter they found was a very cute Honu.

September 26, 2023 Tuesday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:25 to 2:00 and there were two seals seen during her viewing.

On LPB was an Adult Female: adult size, newer coat, medium gray female belly, line scar on right middle chest and two red tags. She believes this is the same seal that was in this location yesterday.

Out on RRB was a Subadult Female: small subadult to large juvenile size, older coat, light female belly and two red tags.

Team R&B started at the bay and upon arrival there were no seals. But once again persistence paid off, as they spotted a seal coming into the area. Hauling up on the rocks was the lovely RH76 Kala. Its always fun to watch a seal haul in up onto the rocks, frankly it amazes me they are able to do it.

Team R&B are hoping someday in the future Miss Kala will have a big fat healthy pup.

As they were driving along they spotted two seals on the rocks by tracks. They pulled over and hurried

to the site and were surprise to see RH48 Lei Ola and RH32 Kaale. Unfortunately Kaale didn't stay lone and left the site heading in the Honolulu direction.

Lastly they stopped at Kahe where the campers were being moved out of the area and much of the trash being cleaned up.  They could see a seal from afar.  As soon as they got closer the seal entered the water and swam in a westerly direction. Thankfully one of their friends got a look at the tags, they were able to ID R3CX Nalu.

September 25, 2023 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you Marilyn and Team R&B💕.  We also have a new contributor Kathy O.  Kathy is a long time blog follower and frequent visitor to Oahu. She recently moved here and reached out to me regarding the seals. Please welcome Kathy, also she may need a little help on how to ID seals out on the Ewa Side.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:10 to 2:40 and there was only one seal on island today. 

Far back on the LPB was an Adult Female: adult size, medium gray female belly and line scar on the right mid chest. This is a seal that has frequently been reported on Rabbit Island. 

Kathy sent a picture of seal that was at Pilikai Beach Park this morning. She called security and left them a message since they have signs. She couldn't see if there were tags. If anyone has an idea who this might be please share.

Team R&B got to the bay early today. There was a mother and child walking on the rocks, so Team R&B weren't sure if a seal was there or not. They stuck around for an hour and finally RH76 Kala pulled up on the rocks alone.

At another west side location they found two seals already hauled out. The male was RN14 Kalani and the female was RL70 Leina. She is looking plump and healthy. There was no interaction between the two while Team R&B were there.

Last stop was at Kahe and there was RL20 Kalua on the rocks.  It took them a bit to get his ID because he didn't move. Thankfully the waves covered him and he moved so they saw his tag.

And as always they were thrilled to see the dolphins put on show.

September 24, 2023 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕  Marilyn did go to the pier this afternoon but there were no seals to be seen today.

Team R&B started their day at the bay and found two seals up on the rocks resting together. Very sweet couple RG32 keeping a watchful eye on Kala RH76.

Next they headed over to the outfall and saw two seals foraging and stealing fish. (Any guesses who these two thieves are???)  Of course we know it was none other than RL20 Kalua and RH32 Kaale.

Kalua RL20 continued to forage and steal the fish from the lines.  Kaale RH32 encountered three snorkelers. One guy kept yelling "Oh My God" over and over. Kaale was in front of him face to face. Team R&B barely caught it on camera.  

Lastly they kept watch over Kahe hoping a seal would turn up. While talking story with a friend, they noticed a seal hauling up on the rocks. There was Kaale RH32 who finally hauled out.

While out at the site they saw a black SUV was stuck in  sand at Tracks. The authorities came, probably to help and fine them.

September 23, 2023 Saturday's Dailies

They started the day at the bay. Upon arrival they saw a woman looking and taking photos. Thats when they spotted RH76 Kala haul up.  Kala kept looking behind and sure enough here comes R3CX Nalu. He was following her and hauled up right behind her. But for some reason Nalu turned and left quickly heading out to open waters, almost like he was chasing another seal. They looked around but didn't see any other critters. Kala stayed on site and was alone.

A big bonus today was watching a pod of dolphins with their babies.

After picking up junior sealette they headed back to the bay. They were thrilled that Kala was still there and further out and around the rocks was another seal. There was Lei Ola RH48 who has just hauled up. She is looking healthy and beautiful.

They decided to make the Ka'ena West trek and with the wind blowing it was perfect. 

Their first find was RG28 Lefty.

Further out they found a second seal. It was RG32 alone and looking quite green.
