Tammy headed towards Ka'ena Point today, it was overcast and a little rainy. She made a stop by the playpen and found Puna RK88 at the far left end playing with a stick. Walked over to look for Napua but instead came across an adult male that she initially couldn't ID. Further down the beach in front of the Lyman house Luana RN58 was resting. Tammy spoke with Lesley who met up with her and was able to ID the male as RK36 Kauai Kolohe. AND finally they found Napua RK40 playing in the tide pools. Seems like the playpen was a busy place with four seals hanging about.
Kauai Kolohe RK36 galumphed over and entered the water. Lesley and Tammy followed him, swimming down the beach hauling out by Puna. Then they both turned around and entered the water, they swam for a bit but like a flash RK36 was gone. Puna RK88 decided to return home to his playpen.
The weather cleared up so Tammy decided to walk out to the point. She found RN30 resting on the rocks outside of the main pool. Then they found RIP RR70 in the main pool, took a little bit to ID, but finally he moved and showed his N1 applied bleach. Both Ka'ena RO40 and PVKauai RW02 did a quick lap in the main pool but at different times. Tammy ended up having an EIGHT seal day! Ya done good!
Team Billand spotted the bugga foraging at the outfall AGAIN! Ka'ale RH32 caught 11 fish in four hours. He started out slow in the beginning, just mostly swimming then resting. But when he got a hint of a fish in the area, he would torpedo to the right then to the left, chasing the one fish on the surface. Of course the little butt-head managed to steal one of the fisherman catch. Team Billand worked with him and had him pull the line in very slowly, finally Ka'ale let the line go (whew) and all that was left was a chewed up akuli. The fisherman decided he didn't want a fish with bite marks so he threw it back in...... and yes, Ka'ale got his fish.
When Team Billand arrived at a westside beach they found RN14 snoozing on the rocks alone. They also captured an amazing shot of a dolphin air borne.
Stopping off at another beach they see a mint green seal on the rocks, resting alone. The tide was rising fast, Lei Ola just took the waves that rolled her about against the rocks, where she landed and just snoozed. She kept getting swamped by the waves, this time she gave in and galumphed to higher rocks. She is looking healthy, no new markers, but still got her big hook.
Going back to check on RN14 Kalani they found da boyz together Ka'ale & Kalani met up at the rocks. AND finally little butt-head was on land and not stealing fish. The waves were pounding and the tide was rising quickly. Soon after greeting each other, they both got washed of and off to the big blue sea.
