Tony was out at PO2 weaner RK80/81 site yesterday with Melody. After looking at the photo in detail Tony noticed a natural marker on her that will come in useful as she gets older an able to make an ID. It appears there is an asymmetric teat pattern. It may be the angle of her body, but worth to take notice. Thank you Tony and Melody.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from Makai Pier for about 2 hours and was joined by Stacie from NOAA and Nathan (who supplied Holokai's camera) joined her for part of the time.
She spotted four seal on Rabbit Island. RB12 Sadie and PO6 were on the Left Point Beach not far from the inlet. They were close to the water and mostly behind a rock so photos were limited. They entered the water about 11:45 and she did not see them again.
Part way out on the left rock flats was Holokai RG40. His camera and transmitter look intact. He rolled over at various times and seemed to deal okay with the gear on his back.
Also at the end of the left rock flats was weaner RK38 Hali'a. She entered the water about 12:40.
Team Billand checked the Outfall and sure enough Kaale RH32 was there, looking at the fishermen on the jetty right side. Then they lost site of him. Little butt head needs to stay away from this area.
Then at 7:15 am they checked a beach close by and there was Kaale hauling up on the rocks.
On Team Billands next stop at a Leeward Beach they found RN14 Kalani foraging doing 6 minute dives for one hour, and then he hauled out. He wasn't vocal, probably still pooped from his Molokai trip. I hope he and Kaale catch up to one another.
