Walking down the trail inside KPt fenced area I was greated by several Albatross, they were doing the "fly by checking". The albatross we have been monitoring for months had it's little chick peeping from under it.
RW02 was the only seal out at KPt when I went out this morning. A fun and very interested group of Canadians enjoyed their time out there, we had a long Q&A and as a bonus they were able to see some whales
On our way out I saw for the first time in all these years doing KPt hikes a (BIG) turtle haul out on a beach. It turned around and was making his way back to the water as we left. We checked Birth Beach, Mokuleia and other places but didn't see RN58 "Luana"
I drove out to TBR for the sunset shift with R5AY "Honey Girl" and "Meli" on D40. Upon arrival I checked on R016 "Right Spot", local posses told me she had departed 20 minutes before my arrival @ 1:00 PM.
At Elbow Beach, RL54 "Kaikaina" had just hauled out while M&P were having a long afternoon swim. "Meli" took the lead to haul out & Mom followed. The little one got curious and tried to move towards her sister, Mom didn't like the idea and charged on to "Kaikaina". This one flew across the beach and settle as far away as possible, not before checking back to make sure Mom was no longer after her. "Meli" kept voicing aggressively, but using Mom as a shield. They were very entertaining to watch. After a long nursing session they all settled for a long sleep.
Aloha, Lesley

Peace at last
