3-24-2013 Potential Disaster - Interrupted by good samaritan

As mentioned in DB's post this net was called in by a Team Billand posse member.... Thank goodness for that. And then above and beyond this diver who went in to get the net, which in itself is extremely dangerous.
Personally I have never seen a net laid outside of the water.... THAT is insane!!!  No need for that, a person could easily get caught up in that.... I would like to wrap the person who put it there in it and have them just hang in the water for a bit..... Anyway, I just want to say thank you and how grateful for all that helped out today..... this would have been awful had you not intervened.
 Look at this thing!!
 a good Samaritan
so good the turtle was freed

First of all, Thanks to our fishermen friend John and to HIS friend Jonathan who made the call to us. Get to Ewa Beach Now, call HPD!!! TWO SEALS IN NET, ONE STRUGGLING, the other trying to help it!!! HURRY!!!

I immediately made the call to CIanna, to blah blah and all that stuff. I was insanely frightened!!! Rob was so good in getting us out there as fast as possible. We had a plan...but...when we arrived and saw how huge the net was....we were sickened!!!

Made more calls, when this kind man came by to check out what was going on???? We told him we thought the seals were in the net.

He left, came back, changed into his diving gear. We said to PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL and stop if its too dangerous. He jumped in, immediately found the two big holes about 3 feet and 5 feet wide in the beginning of net.

Robert (diver) then found the poor struggling turtle, FREED THAT.

He found the Hammer head, DEAD.

He got some fish, picked up some leads that was tied to net...came in shore...said no seals in net.

We were all relieved!!! He then went back in to retrieve the net, all 200 feet plus.

In the end Robert came a shore and we all thanked him for his heroic actions and taking the critters out..what a human being...God bless his heart.

Then, after a very big hug to Robert the diver and our friend Jonathan, off he went...TO CHURCH. COOL HUH????

We stretched out the net to see just how long it was...HOLY CRAP..it was over 200 feet..we used the fence poles as a guide, they are 10 feet apart. INCREDIBLE.

We finally got DNLR person to come and take the net. He said they will measure it and investigate this..Ewa Beach is known for many illegal nets.

It was a horrible experience, and I know it wont be the last...Our critters are always in danger...as long as Lay Nets are out there. It slaughters everything that gets, CAUGHT.

The net was not marked any where and it was also like double sided. Thats DOUBLE a net...holy crap.

Will I sleep tonight???? I doubt it. Cause I know, our seals were in that net, struggling..I am glad the smaller seal helped the bigger seal out. According to Jonathan, he watched both seals trying so hard to get free...the net was balling, bunching up he said...oh my god.

Thanks Cianna...for your help.

And Thanks to Jonathan for that call...hugs to Robert the brave diver...you are both HEROES!!!!!!
