At 0653 I found Kolohe (RW22) on the water front rocks, 60 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet on Rabbit Island. Though he would galumph a few feet, he remained there all day, and was the only visible RI resident.
At 0820 Team Billand reported RIP (RR70) at #1708, White Plains.
At 0905 the Billands found Kermit at Kermit's Reef.
At 1000 Zeeny checked in from the end of the world with the report of Ka'ena (RO40) at Ka'ena Point.
At 1040 the Billands called to say they had 2AW at Zablan Beach, Nanakuli.
At 1131 Team Billand reported Noa (R6FI) and Kerby (RW08) together at Maili Point.
The day began to get interesting at 1049 with a call from Dera, reporting that Colleen and Lesley were responding to an animal at the Moana Surfrider Hotel, Waikiki. Ho, Hum....Rocky ?.... Irma ?.... At 1112 Colleen called to advise that it was Makaiwi (R4DF) !!! I sure wasn't lookin' for that. Is this a quick trip to Waikiki or maybe to the the SE quadrant, with a return to the west side ?.....she has done that before. Or is it the beginnings of a trip to the Kona on the Big Island, via Molokai & Maui ???? She has done that twice before, returning to the westside after several months . The bottom line is that Only Makaiwi Knows. I'll for sure be looking for her in my own backyard tomorrow. Dana said that Karen said that Makaiwi departed at around 1845.
At 1503 the Billands advised of an animal at Lagoon #4, KoOlina. At 1600 the reported Pohaku (RO28).
Zeeny called at 1703 to advise that M&M (R020) began to haul to Benny RIP, but turned and left. She actually did join them at 1716. The Billands called at 1845 to advise that Benny had departed at 1747, and that both RIP and M&M were now in the water.

With eight seals found yesterday...it took alot of walking and driving to find all them.
Rip came in 8:15am. Mike helped put out the signs and stuff. Thanks Mike da surfer.
Kermit was on his reef nimitz 9:05am.
10:32am THE OLD COOL DUDE 2AW was basking out at Nanakuli Zablan Beach. Looking good for his age..Proud to be in his presence.
Came across Kerby and Noa Maili, snoozing side by side, a sight so cool to see, like best buds.
Seal number six, Benny RE74 came up with RIP at 3:00pm, a surprise of course. But both boys were fine together, Benny way up at the bushes.
3:30pm Pohaku was a shore at the Lagoon 4, she is taking up many of the lagoons out at KoOlina. She was very calm today and no discharge seen while we were there.
Thanks to Linda and Nel for taking care of her, we had to get back to plains with M and M.
Oh and I called Laurie Finley, who said, YES, I'll go down to keep an eye out with Rip and benny.
5:09 Laurie reported M and M joined the two boys at Plains. Thank heavens she was there to take care of business. bless her heart.
5:48pm Arrived back at Plains to find Laurie, Zinny, and a whole bunch of people with the three seals, that ENTERED THE WATER. Benny left site, but M and M and Rip were having ..... FUN...in the waters shoreline. Magnificent to watch...and everyone stayed behind the ropes.
By 7pm..M and M went on their way, Ropes collected by Laurie, as we had to check on Kermit...he remained snoozing on his reef.
Phew...long exciting day, great adventures..no Idiots, just respectful folks..nice for a change.
Thanks again to Laurie Finley, who took the best shots of a Love AFFAIR between M and Rip.
THanks to Linda our angel and Nel, our new volunteer who is very enthusiastic to learn and help. God bless you both.
Waikiki seemed a bit more of a zoo than usual also- the woman who was an "expert with wild animals" so that gave her the right to go within the perimeter to take pictures...who also "knew" that our seals give birth in the water.
Then there was the lifeguard at the end of his duty who came over and began taking down the tape while the hordes watched in disbelief. When I asked him why he was taking the tape down, he said he had to take his 3 signs. We also had five or six signs up, so I asked him if I could have the jumbled up pile of tape to put back on our own signs. "Sure"... and he hands the mess over to me.
I loved seeing the two lovebirds(or should it be loveseals?) at WP yesterday. Almost didn't take my big camera, but so glad I did. Those two make the cutest wild animal couple. ;) Thanks Barbara for giving me a call...I hope I can keep helping as much as I do if I get that job.
