At
0636 I found Kaiwi (RK96), once again at Rocky Right Beach, on Rabbit Island.
This was her 3rd consecutive day at this location, and she appeared to have
overnighted for the 2nd night.
I notified NOAA of her
presence, and the troops began to amass. I'm not sure when everyone arrived but
I saw the Jet Ski in the water and then out of the water. I'm told it was a
battery problem. The sea conditions began to deteriorate as well, and Dera
called at 1105 to say that the mission had been scrubbed. Kaiwi remained the
rest of the day.
Team Billand called at 0729
to report Kermit (R012) fronting #1708, and Makaiwi (R4DF) fronting #1943. The
Billand reported that Kermit departed at 1145.
At 1033 the Billands found
Kerby (RW08), Noa (6FI) and Benny (RE74) at Maili Point. They reported a 4th
animal that was swimming in the area, but no ID was possible, and departed, not
to be seen again.
At 1230 the Billands
responded to a call about an animal at LahiLahi Pt, however the animal was gone
when they arrived.
