The day began with a trip to Hanauma Bay at 0608, but alas Ewa Girl was not there. Tracy advised that the U/M that had been with her has earned his Temp 409 designation.
Sandy Beach regulars reported a large animal at the "Full Point" surf break in the morning, and a "small one" swimming in the near shore waters nearly, but not quite hauling out. I have no other information , but I'd put my dollar on Ewa Girl and Temp 409 maybe still being in the area. Of course it could be any of the other thousand also ?????
The Rabbit Island cast was M&M and pup at 3BS on D#18, and Duke beginning the day in the Middle Cliff area, and ending up at the right end of the beach.
I did another Irma Quest SW quadrant run, but came up empty again . The Billands checkd Palm Grove and also came up empty.
The Billands saved the day, later on. Just as I arrived back at Makai Pier at 1155, the phone rang. It was White Plains life guard, Bryan reporting what he believed to be Benny just hauling out at the Ewa end of the beach. Fortunately, the Billands were still in the area, and quickly responded. Unfortunately, the animal was gone when they arrived, however when the got the Kalaeloa Camp Grounds (Al's Bench) they found Benny on the beach.
I recieved photos today from the Manleys taken by a friend at MCBH on Saturday 7-11-09. The video of KC was pretty bad, but the new stills more than confirm the KC ID.
