At 1021 I found Kolohe (RW22) just hauling out at the left end rock flats, and proceeding toward somebody he could see, and I couldn’t. It would prove to be Pau (RF34) who had no doubt been there all along but hidden behind rocks. They would enter the water and haul out together fronting Left Greenery at 1029.
At 1047 posse member Linda called to advise that Kaiwi (RK96) was on the Kokee Flats, behind her house. Melanie was just beginning her KK trek and confirmed Kaiwi at 1110.
The highlight of the day began with the first of a several calls from Diane Gabriel. She and Karen Turner (Welcome Home Karen !!!), were doing the Turtle Bay trek. They found what would prove to be Benny (RE74) on Kaihalulu Beach, TB, at 1040. He would do a swim, hauling out near the Elbow at 1157, then back in the water at 1255, headed around Kahuku Point, headed south. Diga’s excellent photos confirm the Benny ID. I knew that it had been a heck of a long time since Benny was at TB, but in going through the archives, both written and photos, I found that the only other documented proof of Benny at Turtle Bay was the day I met the little dude on 4-1-2005 !!!!
He was just a little 3 yr old kid from Kauai. Thank you Diga & Karen. Ya’ done better than good...... Ya’ Done Grrrrrreat !
Today was a rare “skunked” day for Team Billand.
