At 0828 a posse member called to advise of an animal just hauling out to the east end of Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 0838 I found Buster (RV08) and got him cordoned off just ahead of the first tour bus of the day. He departed somewhere between 1840 & 1930.
At 0813 I found RIP (RR70) & Aukai (RL12) together at the left end of the beach on Rabbit Island. They would remain all day.
At 0829 Marilyn called to advise of Duke (RA12) doing 1 minute dives at Spitting Cave.
At 1006 Marilyn also reported Kaiwi (RK96) at the Kokee Flats. Melanie would later see both those animals on her 11-2 shift.
At 1041 on a routine pan I found Pua (RF34) just hauling out 60 ft right of 3BS, on RI.
At 0948 Ocean Safety advised of an animal in the trough at Magic Island. Awaiting further word.
Vera Cober checked in on her Luana search duties to advise that she had not seen Luana, however she did get to spend quality time with Ka’ena (RO40) and RL42 at Ka’ena Point.
Posse member Ken Tingman called at 1756 from the end of the world with the report of RK36 at KP. He did not see Ka’ena or RL42.
At 1245 Dana called with a report of what was said to be a “1DV” tag, at the Kahala Hilton. Karen Rohter responded and called to advise that the single right tag on this adult male was 4DV. That was nobody I knew from the Oahu cast, but a bit of delving into the photo database from Diane Pike on Molokai, soon solved the mystery. It proved to be Temp 500, from Molokai, who had earned his tags from a transmitter episode. Mystery solved !!!
