I hung out there for a while just in case, but decided to check Lanai Lookout since my critter headed that way. At 0855 I found Kolohe (RW22) & Kaiwi (RK96) together in the Lanai Lookout cove. There is no way in the world to prove it, but Kolohe has my vote for the BH animal, but ?????
At 1053 diver posse member Paul called from LL to advise that both animals were in the water but staying in the area in play mode. He would call again at 1245 to advise that Kolohe & Kaiwi had hauled out to the Buster Flats side of Lanai Lookout, and that another animal had arrived. Kolohe and the U/U had words. It would take all day to ferret out the facts, but as it turns out the new arrival turned out to be Duke (RA12). He managed to run Kolohe off and remained the rest of the day with Kaiwi.
After checking out Kaiwi & Duke at Buster Flats I decided to check Blowhole in case the unknown might be there. Sure enough, at 1412 I found an U/U doing 5 minute dives. When we got back to BH after our late afternoon session at Lanai Lookout the animal was no longer there.
Paul called again at 1703 to advise that the two critters were still on Buster Flats, but he’d found another animal at the Lanai Lookout Cove. When we arrived we found Kolohe , alone at the cove. We then went to the Flats side and determined that it was in fact Duke with Kaiwi. While watching, Kolohe hauled out again to the flats and began galumphing toward the pair. He got have way and then turned around and reentered the water.
I didn’t get to Makai Pier until 1030, but upon arrival I found RM38, Kainoa (RN04) & Pua (RF34) in a group at Seal Rock Inlet.
At 0809 Team Billand checked in with the report of the arrival of M&M to Tower#2, White Plains, amidst the usual weekend WP zoofest.
At 0836 they called to say that someone had called them about an animal at the Makaha Shores Condo. Debbie was going. The Billands confirmed the Benny (RE74) ID at 1020. Benny would depart at 1029.
At 1104 Team Billand found Haupu (RB24) at LahiLahi Beach in Makaha.
Marilyn, Ken, Tony & Victoria did the Mokuleia to Ka’ena Point trek on Luana duty. Alas they found no Luana, however Marilyn did report Ka’ena (RO40) & Kerby (RW22) in the main pool at the end of the world.
In the Yesterday’s News department, Karen Turner sent shots of Kaikaina (RL54) at the Elbow, Kaihalulu Beach, Turtle Bay.
The Billands are putting in yet another lonnnnnnnng day, so check the blog in the morning for their shots.
