7/21/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: UU@Hauula, Ua Malie&PO4, Ka'ale@Maili, Benny@Makua, Rocky&Kaimana

Happy Aloha Friday!
We have pictures from TWO pupping sites, cuteness overload!  I want to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful people who continue supporting the blog, DB's posse is alive and well!

Okay now to our daily sightings... Vicki reported a U/U at Hauula, photo quality and the angle makes it a tough call... anyone want to guess?  Vicki made her way further north to visit with Ua Malie (RT10) and PO4!  She was informed by a volunteer that NOAA has confirmed the pup is a male.  I think this is one of the earliest calls on gender on record!  (If you haven't done the math, it's 2 boys and 2 girls pups so far :-)

Team Billand were out at the closed area at pray for sex, walked all the way out and found two people passing a seal, that reacted to them by leaping and barking. When Team Billand got closer they were able to ID Benny RE74.

Team Billand later reported Ka'ale (RH32) on the rocks at Maili getting slapped by a the rising tide. Little green machine still isn't molting.

Sadly Team Billand found a dead honu floating in the water.

On a lighter note Tammy spent a little time with Rocky (RH58) and Kaimana.  Kaimana amused herself with a leaf for about 20 minutes and let Momma know it was chow time.  When they hauled out for a feed they were on the Kaimana Beach side.

Gayle's only find was Right Spot (RO16) at Kaupo, she swam in the shallows for about 20 minutes and left at 11:35 this morning.
