7/15/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: Ka'ena Point Update and Rabbit Island

Lesley, Diane, Tracy and Marilyn hiked to Ka'ena Point today from the Mokuleia parking lot.

At 0849 we found Luana (RN58) at 10-minute beach. She looked fabulous in her newly molted coat.

At 0953 we located Squinty (R330) in the rock flats i the main pool at KP.

At 1015 we spied a seal swimming in from the west. It was RIP (RR70) coming in to check out Squinty. There was a small spat between RIP and Squinty. After a short while RIP left the Main pool and was next seen hauling out on the Back Beach at KP.

We next found Ka'ena (RO40) at 1059 sleeping near the entrance to Ka'ena's pool.

When we hiked back to the parking lot we found a newly arrived RW02 joining Luana at 10-minute Beach. It seemed that Luana was showing off her new coat.
