6/2/2014 DB's Dailies: Kea@BH, Kainoa&Pua@RI, RK36@SC, Kolohe@PC,U/U@RR, Meli&Kaikaina@TB, Nihoa@GR, Ka'ena,RL42&Luana@KP

At 0620 I found an overnighted Kea (RN46)(0620) in the cove on the Sandy Beach side of the Blowhole Lookout. He was gone on my 0910 check, however I found him there again on my 1130 recheck. He has remained the rest of the day.

At 0645 I found Kainoa (RN04)(0958) fronting Left Greenery on Rabbit Island. He remained at that location all day.

At 0750 I found RK36(0828) doing 5-7 minute dives at Spitting Cave. In video footage I’d received from posse member Melanie overnight, I thought I saw the notched hind flipper of RK36 from yesterday, but it was still inconclusive. The ID today was solid, based on his right side “C shaped scar” behind the RFF, and his single right red tag. He had last been reported at KP on 4-26-14. His last SE quadrant sighting was on 3-17-14 at RI.

At 1343 I found Pua (RF34)(1343) fronting 2BS on RI.

At 1010 the Billands reported a call about an animal at Paradise Cove. They would confirm the Kolohe (RW22).  Dana reported his departure at 1400.

At 1041 the Billands called to advise that Eileen had reported an U/U with a scar above the left eye at the Reef Runway. No further word. Eileen also advised that she had forgotten her phone yesterday, but reported having seen Kekoa (RK72) & little sister U’ilani (RN36) together at the birth beach, Reef Runway.

Diane Gabriel checked in at 1127 with the report of Meli (F20) at the Elbow, and later at 1004, Kaikaina (RL54) at the same location, Kaihalulu Beach, Turtle Bay.

At 1226 Team Billand found Nihoa (R912) at Guard Rails Beach, Maili. She had last been reported at KP on 5-14-14.

The Billands got a call from Security about an animal at Lagoon#3, however there was nobody there when they arrived.

Kimo Smith checked in from the end of the world at 1413, with the report of Ka’ena (RO40), RL42, and her little sister Luana (RN58), all together at the Main Pool, Ka’ena Point.

Pua - I think the shear waters are trying to spell out a message...
