At 0615 I found an overnighted Kea (RN46) , once again at the cove on the Sandy Beach side of the Blowhole Lookout. This was D#3 of this stay. He was reported gone by Gayle on her 1309 check.

At 0659 on my first look at Rabbit Island I found what would prove to be Duke (RA12) at the far left end of the beach. ID was by is mid body ventral CC scar, and 2 red tags. He entered the water at 0937 and I did not see him again.

At 1135 I found Pua (RF34) just hauling out to the left end rock flats at RI. When I got back to the pier at 1423 I found that she had relocated to the Pua sized rocks fronting 1BS, on RI.

At 1138 on a pan I found Kainoa (RN04) just hauling out at mid Middle Cliff, on RI.

At 1149 he was visited by an adult sized U/U for just a few moments. No ID was possible. The animal reentered the water at 1154 and I did not see it again.

At 1228 Gayle called with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at Irma’s Grotto, Kokee Flats, Portlock. I confirmed the Kaiwi ID at 1238. Linda Nichols reported Kaiwi gone at 1605.

At 1238 Gayle called again to report Aukai (RL12) at the Lanai Lookout cove. I arrived at 1300 to confirm the Aukai ID.

Team Billand called at 0741 to advise that they were responding to the call of an animal at Lagoon#1, KoOlina. They found nothing on arrival, however a witness (Jeannie) showed them shots of Kolohe (RW22).

At 1050 the Billands reported Nihoa (R912) at Guard Rails Beach, Maili.

At 1301 the Billands found M&M (R020) fronting Tower#2 at White Plains. A witness advised that there had been 2 animals, 20 minutes earlier, but no additional critters were found.

Kona Lifeguard posse member Joy Mills-Ferren called at 0705 with the report of what would prove to be Makaiwi (R4DF) at the King Kamehameha Hotel in Kona, B.I. She had last been reported on 3-3-14 in Kona. He last sighting on Oahu came on 2-2-14 at 2E in Waikiki. Love getting up dates from the outer islands.... especially about our Maka'iwi!
