I appreciate the help from volunteer, Andrea Evans today with M and M White Plains. It was a busy day out that way with Access Surf, surfers, swimmers, visitors etc.
While watching M and M, a yellow chopper came by, turned and came close to shore, hovering...he was not at the 1,000 foot level, which is wrong. By law, that chopper did an illegal fly by, close to surfers too. Tsk. Tsk. What was he doing out there????
Then as we cared for the safety of our seal, we heard a loud sound, that came from the telephone pole and the high tension wires. We saw the tree touching the wires causing the glow and fire at the Ironwood tree. We called the authorities, Lifeguard picked up the branch that burned off and it relit as he held it in his hands. The electricity in the area blew. Weird stuff. Very loud!!!
Miss Pohaku was looking good, gained some weight, very healthy. NO signs needed here as she was on the rocks at Maili Guard Rails.
Miss M and M has been at Plains for 22 days...she sure is on a longggggg vacation after weaning AUKAI, then molting here at Plains.
She is found high up shore, sometimes passed the lifeguard station in the am.As the morning moves on, M and M galumphs her way to the sand's edge, then moves down to the water, gets hit many times, and ..... goes back up shore to bask. Every day...same thing. On this day, Miss M and M left Plains on her own, getting a bite to eat on the way out. I guess we'll see her tomorrow on day 23...we'll have to see.
Finding Miss Ewa Girl, PRICELESS. We dont see her much any more since she found the peace and quiet at Airport. She has gotten quite large, her tracking device intact and ok. CHARLES???? DID YOU KNOW SHE LANDED AT WINDSOCK???? Did you get a signal??? Does the thing STILL WORK???
Just two more days to go for the vacationing kids...then it should settle down again.
