October 2012 Monk Seal Count Results 42 Seals

Aloha All,
Here are the final numbers for today's count.
Big Island was exploding with seals today!

Big Island - 4
Kauai - 8
Maui/Lanai-1
Molokai-17
Oahu -12

Thank you all for your hard work and preparation for this event.
Aloha, Dera

Big Mahalo to all the volunteers that participated in the October 2012 Monk Seal Count. Oahu had a final count of 12 seals. There were many areas that seals usually show up in that were completely seal free today. This is not unusual for those that have some sand in their shoes from previous seal counts. Tomorrow could be a huge seal day as is usually the case if we have a slow "count day". Please stay tuned. For the most part Kaena Point and Rabbit Island were the areas where the most critters were found today. The usual places like White Plains and other locations were strangely vacant of our favorite line up of characters.
Your efforts and determination in covering the entire Island are most appreciated. Mahalo to you all for your dedication and support in the recovery of the Hawaiian Monk Seal.
