At 1344 posse member emeritus, June Kawamata called from her WhaleWatcher post at Lanai Lookout to say that two tourists had told her they'd seen a seal at Blowhole just moments ago. When I arrived at 1355 I found Right Spot doing 9 minute dives. She was run off by two spearfishermen at 1446. I remained for two more rounds, but did not see her again.
Team Billand reported Kermit fronting #1708 at White Plains.
At 1523 they found Rocky newly hauled out the Kermit's Reef on the west side of the Nimitz jetty. At 1540 the Billands called to report that they had gotten a call from posse member Alan, who was on duty with Kermit at WP. He was reporting that "V25" (R018) had just hauled out down the beach from Kermit's location. The Billands were returning to WP.
Marilyn did the Ka'ena Point trek, from 1017 until 1145. She found her 1st Albatross chick, and Kerby, at the end of the world. Kerby had begun on the back beach, but relocated to the front beach. Marilyn guesstimated at least 50 people out there today.
Dera called at 1632 to advise that she'd spoken with DOFAW rep., Keala at KP. He reported that he'd seen RI37 from 10 til 3 approximately 1 mile in from the Mokuleia parking lot. Marilyn was bummed with the news, because she'd spoken with Keala at 0900, prior to his finding RI37, and since she doesn't follow the coast line on the way in and out from KP, she was unware of the haul out. RI37 is certainly putting in some mileage, which has to been considered a good sign , in terms of her health.
