We have seen three seals that go into that hole in the reef. Always wondered how Fat Kermit got into that hole. Yesterday we watched Benny dive into the hole to cool off. He put his head in first, wiggled the rest of his but in, little by little, then turned on his side pulling gently, until his whole body was in that hole. And there was just a little water in the hole, just enough to cool himself off. Amazing and really funny to watch. Seals do funny things all the time and we get to witness it and we are blessed to be there.
And Makaiwi was a real character herself, basking in the hot sun on the ewa side of the fence line of white plains. In the end, at 5:55pm she decided to leave. She put on a great show for all the folks viewing her departure. She rolled in the surf, turned to face us, then placed her two flippers in her mouth as if to kiss us all goodbye and say..."SEAL YA TOMORROW!!! Everyone was cheering at this sweet creature from the sea...oh how precious...so happy we were there with her.
