12/8/2010 DB Dailies

The first order of business was to check Makapuu Beach at 0600. Irma was gone. I picked up the signs and continued the adventure.

At 0740 from Makai Pier I found what would later prove to be Duke, snoozin' in the grass behind Seal Rock Inlet at the right end of the beach on Rabbit Island. At 1052 RIP would haul out to join him. After the initial nuisance nuzzling there was no further interaction. Bother animals remained there all day.

Despite many a mile both afoot and by vehicle, my Irma Quest was a bust, until 1419 when I found her doing 6 minute dives at Blowhole. I'd checked there numerous time today, but on this occasion I found her more to the "Eternity Beach" side of BH, before moving to the usual foraging spot at BH. She may well have spent
the day along Bamboo Ridge and our paths just crossed at the right time.

Team Billand initially reported Kermit at White Plains at 0625, but he was almost immediately run off by a beach walker. They did not find him again. At 1100 I got a call from a WP Lifeguard reporting an animal at the cottages, and another at Kalaeloa Campgrounds to the west of the WP perimeter fence. Posse member Jan Dill responded and confirmed the campground animal as Kermit (tags) at 1228, and the White Plains animal as Ewa Girl (N2 bleach) at 1255. Thank you Jan..... Ya' Done Good !!!

Team Billand would check in at 1554 with the report of RO28 at Guard Rails Beach , Maili Point, and at 1611 found 2AW at Tracks.

Dera called at 1125 with the report of an animal at Magic Island Lagoon. At 1230 she confirmed the Rocky ID. Sean Guerin responded and did an N11 bleach on L&R shoulders and across the butt, with a girdle. Rocky immediately rolled !! Hopefully, she'll be in Colleen's backyard, at Diamond Head tomorrow, and we'll be able to see what the aftermath looks like.

Sean's shots also give us our best view to date of the Right Hind Flipper , bite wound that the Billands documented some days ago. Ouch !!!   Geesh Rocky girl what happened?  I hope whatever did that to you, you were able to swing around and flipper slap them before you swam for your life.
