DB Post Friday 1/2/2009

There were lots of critters out and around today. My first find was Ewa Girl, on day #2 of this latest stint at Hanauma Bay. She was still on her left side rock flats perch. An overnighter is a distinct possibility.

The Rabbit Island crew was Mojo and R301 at the left end of the beach, and Buster by himself at the right end. All would remain there all day.

At 1305 KC hauled out to Kaupo Beach Park, across from the back entrance to Sea Life Park. Ever since she'd hauled out MCBH, I've been waiting for her next appearance. She was on the beach until 1526 when overzealous, and loud onlookers ran her off.

The Billands called at 1047 with the report of 2AW at Tracks near Kahe Power Plant, and again at 1153 with the Kermit report on the right side of the Nimitz Beach Jetty. Their last call came at 1230 with Irma at the Last Bench, Kalaeloa Campgrounds.

Tracy reported an animal at Diamond Head, and posse member Rachel put up signs. Tracy and Gretchen later confirmed that it was Rocky. They had gone out on a bleaching mission to Rocky and then KC, but neither worked out.

As interesting as all of that is, the real piece of news came at 1320 with a surfer reporting to Tracy that he'd been in the water with a little guy that had a transmitter on his back, at the Wailupe surf break. Kolohe has gotta' be the only choice.
