The SW winds coming through the "Makapuu Notch", made life on the lanai at Makai Pier, and real fun experience. It was crankin' in the 35 to 40 mph at least. The Rabbit Island cast didn't seem to care about the wind. At 0733 I found Buster by himself at the left end of the Middle Cliff area of Rabbit Island. He would remain there all day. I also found RIP and M38 together up in the Morning Glory directly fronting 3BS. At 0740 Mojo and RB08 hauled out together 60 ft right of the 3BS. RB08 was in the lead but Mojo was climbing all over her, and she was just trying to keep out from under. They moved up and into the vegetation, and ultimately went to snooze mode.
When I got back to the pier at 0915 both RIP and M38 had moved down to the water front rocks, and Mojo was in the process of joining them. He had just arrived at the water front
when his body began a slight convulsion and he spewed. Lots of yellow liquid with the usual worms . Though a bit shocking to see, it is nevertheless a very common occurrance. Once he got that out of the way he joined the others in snooze mode. RB08 would move down to join the boys at 1130, but kept a 10 foot buffer zone. There was never any observed interaction.
The Billands reported Irma at the Wind Sock, Kalaeloa Beach at 0905, and Tracy called late morning to advise that Right Spot was confirmed at Gas Chambers (Rocky Point, North Shore), and that another animal was at Laniakea. I have no further info at this writing.
Tracy also provided a bit of news about a little guy with a transmitter on his back, being spotted last Saturday in the waters off of Aina Haina. Kolohe has been documented in that area before, and my dollar is on him. He was back at Rabbit Island yesterday, as you know. Aloha, DB
