Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:40 to 2:20 and there were two seals seen during that time.

Between 3BS and SRI was an Unknown Adult: adult size, at least one tag, no info on its gender. The seal barely moved during the viewing session.

At SRI was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, older coat, tan female belly and two red tags.

Team R&B hit the jackpot on their first stop today. There were three males on the rocks all of them snoozing. Together at seal inlet to the right was Kai RM31 and Lefty RG28.

Alone on high rocks was big boy RL08.

At guard rails a location they don't like to spend much time at due to the large homeless camp and loose dogs.  They made a quick check and found R416 on the rocks.  To the outer rocks was Kaale RH32.

Lastly they stopped at Kahe and found Mr. Kekoa Alii RK72.  He was alone and snoring the day away.

Today was a beautiful day and Team R&B got a nice shot of the Leeward coastline.

February 24, 2024 Saturday's Dailies

They started their day at the bay and while looking around out of no where a seal hauled up on the rocks.

The seal appeared smaller than Kala, upon closer inspection they ID'd RL70 Leina.  She didn't look so chubby today, so the other day it may have been her position.  She settled in and took a nap.

At another west side location there were three seals on site when they arrived. All three were resting.

Up on left high rocks were RM31 Kai along side of RK72 Kekoa Alii. They were pretty cute hanging out together.

On lower rocks was Lefty RG28. He had a sneeze -a-thon, something must have tickled his nose.

They headed back to the bay and this time they found RH76 Kala. She was alone towards the front away from her zen rocks. 

RL70 Leina was still in her spot.

Other than finding seals at only two locations today, Team R&B did enjoy watching whales putting on show today.

February 23, 2024 Friday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:40 to 1:20 and there were four seals seen during that time.

Out on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB was a seal Marilyn originally labeled as an Unknown/Unknown, but after viewing the seals and reviewing the photos, she believes it is RP24 Mohala. Sub-adult size, older coat with mottled tan female belly and nb on LFF.

Initially together near SRI was RK24 Bruno/Wawamalu and an Adult Female. 

RK24: light gray male belly, two red tags and scar on the right rear side.

Adult Female: adult size, mottled ventral, female belly and two red tags.

RK24 soon left the AF and started galumphing in the 3BS direction where a Juvenile Female was on the beach. He nosed her and they had a few words. Then RK24 headed for the water and entered about 12:06 pm/ At 12:20, he hauled out at the LPB surge channel.

Meanwhile the JF went into snooze mode. JF: was juvenile size,, light female belly and two red tags.

Marilyn also watched a red-tailed tropic bird at its nest in the cliff behind SRI and a pair of Masked Boobies at the outer crater rim.

Team R&B started their day at the bay where they saw a fat seal on the rocks. It was Kala RH76 was in another spot not her usual zen spot at all. They checked on her again and she seemed fine just resting.

While out at the bay they watched the dolphins at play.

At another west side location they were thrilled to find Kekoa Alii RK72 back in a familiar spot. His tracker was visible.

To his right was another seal, it was RG28 Lefty. He was near the seal inlet area resting peacefully. 

Last stop at Kahe they found one seal. There was Mr. RL08 alone chilling on the rocks. He was nice enough to show one of his tags making his ID L09 easy.

February 22, 2024 Thursday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12 noon to 1:50 and there were five seals seen during that time.

On the waterline down from 1BS was an Unknown Adult: adult size, she never got to see its ventral side and did not see tags. The UA left by 12:20 so there wasn't much time to get more information.

Initially there was a group of three seals near each other between 3BS and SRI. At 12:45 a fourth seal showed up and joined the group.

The initial three seals were:

Sub-adult Male: sub-adult size, tan male belly and two red tags

Adult Female 1: large adult size, tannish female belly and two red tags. In some positions she looked pregnant, although not ready to pip. In other positions she did not look so plump.

Adult Female 2: adult size, light to medium gray ventral female belly, two red tags and a line scar on her upper right chest area.

The fourth seal was a Juvenile Female: larger juvenile size, two red tags and a tannish yellow female belly.

There was some changing of positions among the group.

Team R&B started their day at the bay and looked out for seals. They saw a homeless guy walking int he area where the seals usually go, and Team R&B were happy there were no seals around. Then out of  nowhere they saw a seal coming into the exact area. The seal hauled up within 5 feet of the where they guy was standing. They could see it was RH76 Kala, so they called out to the guy and pointed to the seal. He moved up a bit and sat, and thankfully eventually left the area.

Kala RH76 hauled up and then turned the other way instead of going to her zen spot. At least she was in a better spot by being hidden. They also noted that today they noticed for the first time that Kala has one white nail.

Team R&B next find was Kekoa Alii RK72 with most of his bling attached. They had heard there were

two seals but they only saw RK72. He was resting comfortably.

They headed off to Makaha and got to see plenty of whales. They were also surprised to see a big honu resting onshore.

And there was a seal alone on shore sound asleep. They studied the critter and finally saw one of the tags has a 3.... and there was R3CX Nalu.
