February 6, 2026 Friday's Dailies

They started their day at pokai where they found Miss Kala RH76. She was there alone resting peacefully in the morning.

But later in the afternoon, a man had to go up close and personal to talk with her. hmmm. Team R&B kept asking the man not to get close to stay 50 feet away. He didn't listen just went closer and Miss Kala reacted. Team R&B were happy she scared him enough that he moved away. He continued to gesture and talk with her. 

They could see from afar there was a seal on shore at electric beach. They couldn't make an ID other

than it was a male. They couldn't stay as they were on their way to check on three seals. The seal was  reported as an Unknown Male.

Team R&B got several texts of three seals on shore at plains. When they arrived the seals were all resting in a big zone that set up by the lifeguards. To the left was RJ06 Aka, in the middle was R3CX Nalu, and to the right was RL12 Aukai. Needless to say Team R&B was thrilled to see the trio.

As a side note, they had reported a RJ01 the other day. It has been confirmed that seal is RJ06 and his J07 tag is worn out and looks like a one. 

Team R&B took the time and explained to the lifeguards how special Aka is to Marilyn who looks out for the seal on the east side. That DB named Aka after Kimo Lyman's nephew a water man. The lifeguards appreciated and thought it was cool.

The headed back and rechecked Kahe and found RK72 Kekoa Alii with RL20 Kalua. The two of them were on the rocks snoozing.  They did check electric beach, but there were no seals.

February 5. 2026 Thursday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:32 to 2:22 pm and there were two seals seen during that time. Marilyn wasn't planning on going with frequent passing clouds and brisk winds, but the weather for the next couple of days doesn't look good.

Almost directly down from the 3BS was a Sub-adult Male: large juvenile to small sub-adult size, two red tags and light male belly.

Out near the RRB surge channel was a Sub-adult Unknown: probably sub-adult size, light ventral, no info on sex or tags.

Team R&B started the day at Pokai. They spotted Miss RH76 Kala resting alone.  They were happy to see another seal. It was little RU12 snoozing on land, then moved down. Her coat was dirty, like she had rolled around in the dirt. 

At Kahe they found the very handsome Kekoa Alii RK72. He was resting comfortably.  Next they found RG32 alone at his spot.

Next they made their was to white plains where they found Miss Aukai RL12. She was near tower one, but the Lifeguards were scrambling with the signs and ropes moving them around. Aukai settled by the fence line. Team R&B noted there was a half eaten fish, she may have thrown it up.

Team R&B thanked the lifeguard for their quick reaction to provide some protection for Aukai.  One of the lifeguards shared that he had worked on Midway.

February 4, 2026 Wednesday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:36 to 2:12 pm and there was only one seal seen during that time.

Initially on the rock flats on the Mauka side of SRI was a sub-adult female: sub-adult size, tan female belly, two red tags. Marilyn believes this is the same  S/F she reported at the same location yesterday.

Team R&B first find was Miss Kala RH76. She was at Pokai alone

resting off to the right. A surfer didn't see her while he was jumping from rock to rock to catch the waves. Thankfully he came to a stop. Kale was very alert and looking quite fat.

While at Kahe they were scanning the water. They spotted a seal near the buddha area, then it swam pass them. They determined it was  an adult with a green snout, unsure if it had tags. Reported as an Unknown Adult.

They headed over to plains and found an adult male for a while. They saw he had two takes, but he was covered with sand. It took them a bit

to get a clear tag shot and was able to ID R3CX Nalu. The boy is back at the neighborhood.

Then they spotted another seal at plains. It was great to find Aukai RL12 resting so peacefully on her back.

On their last stop they saw a seal from afar and people were close by. By the time they made it over to yoks the seal moved from higher up down to the rocks. It was a smaller seal, a little thin and they think

there was a tag, but it was probably covered. The seal had dings on right and left shoulders and a green snout. The seal never moved so they didn't have much to work with. It was reported as an Unknown Juvenile.

The icing on the cake was they got to see quite a few whales!
