March 10, 2024 Sundays' Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:55 to 1:35 and there were four seals seen during that time.

Out on the rock flats of LPB was an Unknown Sub-adult 1: sub-adult size, not sure about sex or tags because of its position.

Between 3BS and SRI was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, light yellow female belly and two red tags.

Up near the cliff behind SRI was Unknown Sub-adult 2: sub-adult size, two red tags, not sure about sex in that Marilyn never saw its ventral side.

At 1:02 pm Marilyn noticed an Unknown Adult haul out between 3BS and the JF. The UA was large adult size, two red tags and not sure about sex. The UA almost immediately galumphed up into the dunes and went into snooze mode among the dune morning glory plants.

Team R&B started their day at the bay where they found one seal. They waited an hour waiting for it to move from the grassy area and ID'd RL70 Leina. She stretched, went on her tummy and hid her face.

From there they stopped at Kahe where they found RG28 Lefty. He was on the rocks alone.

They could see that Kaale RH32 was back at Elec beach from afar. There were lots of people hanging around, so they called it into the hotline.

They went back to check and a volunteer was on site with signs. They turned away for a bit and when they looked back Kaale was gone.

Team R&B made their way over to plains. When they arrived they found the lovely RL12 Aukai alone on shore. She is looking healthy and resting comfortably.

They went back to Kahe for a second check of the area. Lefty RG28

was gone but in his place was Mr. handsome RK72 Kekoa Alii. He was resting but very alert and aware of the noises coming from the nearby camp.

At another west side location they found a seal up on high rocks. They were able to see it was a male and believe this to be R617.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:12 to 1:07 and there were three seals seen during that time.

Alone on the 1BS side of LPB was an Adult Male: adult size, dark coat and dark male belly, and Marilyn doesn't believe he had tags.

Near each other between 3BS and SRI were two seals:

Sub-adult Female: smaller sub-adult size, light gray female belly and two red tags.

Nearby was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, yellowish brown female belly and two red tags.

Team R&B were out today with Junior Sealette. On their first stop at Kahe they found four seals and needless to say Junior Sealette was thrilled.

RG28 Lefty was hanging with RL20 Kalua. R407 Kawika was hanging out with RH32 Kaale. My best guess this group of boys had been out filling their bellies and now resting.

At another west side location they found two seals. It was very sweet finding RK72 Kekoa Alii with RM31 Kai. Seems like all the boys were hanging out with a buddy today.

They had checked the bay earlier in the day and there weren't any seals. So on their way home they went by to check and there was Miss Kala RH76. They quickly took a couple of photos and left so no one would notice. There were lots of folks out there today, seems none of them knew she was there.

March 8, 2024 Friday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕 In the yesterdays news department we got news from posse pal Liz on Molokai and from Tammy who was at Ka'ena Point.

First exciting news from Molokai, our boy RN14 Kalani was seen there and has been know to hang out, probably looking for females. Also R606 a small male who has been seen on Rabbit Island was also on Molokai. Big Mahalo to Liz for sharing with us!

Tammy did Ka'ena Point yesterday with Lesley. They had two seals:

R420 Kaipo with his N11 applied bleach and TA68 Lopaka was resting on the rocks.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:30 to 1:45 and there were two seals seen during that time.

On the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB was an Unknown Sub-adult: sub-adult size, no information on sex or tags because the seal never showed its ventral or rear flippers.

In the dunes Makapuu of 3BS was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, older coat, mottled tan female belly and two red tags. At 1:37 she started rolling down the dune and onto the beach. She was near the waterline when Marilyn left.

Team R&B started the day at the bay and they spent over an hour looking for seals and saw none. But they did get so watch the dolphins putting on show.

As they were walking away they got a glimpse of a silver body, hidden in the rocks. They looked from all different angles and finally ID'd Kala RH76. This being a new spot where she is well hidden, away from her usual zen garden spot probably keeps her away from the males and humans bugging her.

At another west side location they found two seals at the site. Both were on high rocks resting. They

could easily ID sweet Kekoa Alii RK72 and other was not so easy. They reported it as an Unknown Sub-adult, they couldn't see if it had tags and it didn't move at all. They thought maybe RM31 but could not confirm.

Next stop at guardrails they found RL70 Leina. She was alone snoozing on the rocks. The area has lots of dogs and homeless, they didn't stay long, just made sure she was okay.

Team R&B checked out Kahe where they found Kawika R407. He was alone and resting.

From afar they spotted Kaale RH32 hauled out at Electric Beach. He was resting and people were out and about. After a while they noticed a kayak landing right next to Kaale, who looked and flipped over. Then another kayak arrived and landed close by, Kaale was flipping about. They spot to a friend to headed over, but by the time they arrived Kaale had left.
