Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:34 to 2:00 and there were four seals seen during that time. 

By the 1BS of LPB were two seals:

Adult Female: adult size, mottled gray belly and two red tags. Marilyn alternated between thinking this was a male and female and finally decided it was a female. This seal may have a scar above the right eye and a scar on the upper left chest.

About 40 feet Makapuu side of 3BS was a Sub-adult Male: smaller sub-adult size, yellow male belly and two red tags.

At SRI was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, light yellow female belly and two red tags.

The masked booby pair was also on the outer rim of the crater for much of Marilyn's viewing session.

Team R&B first seal of the day was spotted by the last cabin at restcamp. It was R3CX Nalu alone on shore, there were no signs at that time.  They called the hotline.

Later in the afternoon they did another check and Nalu was still on shore, but now there were signs up. They did see a guy just outside of the area with the signs.

At another west side location they found RK72 Kekoa Alii. He was pretty much in the same spot, his coat was dry and he was getting rest on this windy chilly day.  They noted his antenna is gone from the mesh on his back but the sat tag was still intact.

On their first stop at Kahe they found RG28 Lefty. He was alone and resting.

Upon their second visit they spotted a gentleman and his child being

very excited about something. Well they were watching a seal heading in towards the rocks. Team R&B ID'd the seal as R407 Kawaika who hauled up on the rocks with RG28 Lefty.

Lastly Team R&B who were already at home got a text from their daughter who saw a seal at plains. She took a couple of photos with her phone and Barb was able to IF RL12 Aukai.

March 6, 2024 Wednesday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island for about an hour today between 12:28 and 1:25 and there was only one seal on island during that time.

Near SRI was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, female belly, light yellowish brown ventral (could be sand) and two red tags. This seal has a line scar on the right upper chest and a darker spot on the mid chest area.

Team R&B first noticed a seal towards the cabins at restcamp from afar. They headed over and there was good ole boy R3CX Nalu. He was alone on shore resting and there was no signs. One guy who was near by looking for shells did stop and take a photo.  They called the hotline.

Next was heading over to Kahe, when they first arrived they saw the akule boat with three dudes laying nets. Of course there were seals at

the nets stealing fish. There were also snorkelers out in the water busy taking photos of the seals taking the fish. Team R&B was able to ID three seals as RG28 Lefty, RH32 Kaale and R407.

A little later they found RG28 Lefty had finally landed. He was alone resting at Kahe.

In the afternoon they found RH32 Kaale resting at electric beach.

At another west side location they spotted a seal. They were surprised and happy to see his tag and there was RK72 Kekoa Alii in his old hang out. He was alone and resting comfortably. The mesh was visible, but the sat tag was hidden.

March 5, 2024 Tuesday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:24 to 12:57 and there were three seals on island during that time.

Between Middle Cliff and 3BS were two seals:

RK24 Bruno/Wawamalu: adult size, light gray male belly, two red tags and scar on right rear side.

Adult Female: adult size, older coat, mottled gray brown belly and at least one tag.

Near SRI was an Unknown Sub-adult: sub-adult size, not sure about tags or sex.

Team R&B starred their day at the bay. There was a seal foraging and after a bit of time they were able

to get an ID. It was RH76 Kala doing 6 to 8 minute dives, and looking quite large. She was busy foraging and wasn't interested in landing, so Team R&B headed out.

At another west side location they found one seal. Up on high rocks was RM31 Kai alone and resting.

Next stop at Kahe they spotted a seal on the rocks. It was R407 Kawika alone and resting.

They could see that RH32 Kaale was once again hauled out at Electric Beach. There were folks getting close to most likely take a picture or two. They called the hotline to report.

Later in the day they did a recheck and Kaale was still there. Needless to say he was still being visited by folks on the beach.

On their second visit to Kahe they were thrilled to see R407 was in the company of RK72 Kekoa Alii. And not that far away on the next rock was RL20 Kalua.  What a nice surprise.

On their last stop which was a recheck at the bay they spotted a seal hidden in the rocks. They stayed for awhile watching but the seal barely moved, other than a lifting its head a few times. They believe this critter was Kala RH76 hiding after her feast from earlier in the day.
