12/20/2020 Sunday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailes are brought to you by Team Billand and Marilyn. Marilyn's observation of Rabbit Island is in a separate post.

Team Billand started at the outfall and saw two seals by the jetty fighting and swimming. They followed the two as they were heading for a nearby beach. There was Kaale RH32, Team Billand added the two signs from yesterday and put up a makeshift zone. A little bit later RN14 Kalani hauled out finding his long lost bosom buddy Kaale. It was a sweet reunion.  They called the hotline and hung out with the boys. Team Billand waited until 9:45 and headed to other locations. They returned about 11 am and saw the two buddies still on shore. A volunteer was on site.

Right before Team Billand returned to Kaale and Kalani they found RG28 Lefty at another location. He was alone resting in peace on the rocks. He has a little lump on his right eye. They weren't sure if it's just a lump or a tick?(ewww)

Team Billand headed over to the bay at noon. They found R3CX Nalu on the rocks (for a change). He was out cold sleeping the day away. There were people out and about with a couple of dogs, Team Billand kept their eyes on him. They did meet a very cute chubby pupper.

Team Billand did notice that Nalu had fishing line from the right corner of his mouth. It's possibly the same line from months ago, and just visible today.  On their last check Nalu had departed at 4:15 pm on his own.

While Nalu was snoozing the others were foraging in the bay. The usual suspects were out, Kalua RL20, RH48 Lei Ola and RN44.

Late update: Team Billand also found RH92 Nalani just before 4 pm. She was sleeping with a few signs around her. They did not stay long with her.
