12/02/2020 Wednesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

Team Billand arrived at the outfall and heard the fishermen talking about two seals. They checked it out and spotted three critters. One had a bleach on right side, they were fighting with each other. Then they disappeared.  At 7:30 they see Ka'ale RH32 coming in fast and then he just hung out. Before they knew it, Kaale was gone. They looked over towards Tracks and there was Ka'ale was hauling out. They called the hotline. By the time Team Billand arrived there was no parking so they left.  Surf was super high lots of surfers out there.

At 8:30 Team Billand headed over to the bay and found Nalu R3CX. He was sleeping alone in a pond.

Waves were big and covering him up, but he stayed put. There were people out and about so Team Billand left the site. They returned at 10:45 and Nalu was still in the pond snoozing. No other seals at the bay today.

Parking at the beaches were impossible so Team Billand walked the beach. They made it all the way to tracks to check and Ka'ale was gone. They did see another seal, he came up on shore. They were surpised to see RN14 Kalani. Volunteer was on site and a few signs out. Kalani is looking healthy with a nice clean coat. His cue ball bleach is very visible again.

And then there were all the surfers.
