12/09/2020 Wednesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part 2 of the dailies.

Team Billand arrived at the bay and it was raining so they waited. Finally at 8 am they spotted four seals way out in the bay. One seal came by went around the rocks and did several dives. The critter went to the jetty with another seal. They were only able to ID one of the seals as Kaale RH32.

Next was R3CX Nalu, he sort of landed in the small pond to the right.

He ended up being all over the place, by the jetty, way out, to the back and then to the front. When he came in close there was another seal with him. Little RL20 Kalua and Nalu foraged for a bit. Then Kalua came up with a fleshy pink thing in his mouth. (maybe a fish or an eel) He was swimming and dragging it in his mouth, dived and would come back up with it. Nalu joined him and the pink thing was gone. The two of them were fighting, swimming, and hugging each other. Volunteer Melina and Steve were on site.

Team Billand headed over to another west side location. They were having car problems, but of course they first had to check area. They found Kekoa Alii RK72 was on lower rocks getting wet from the waves. His molt is about 20% moving along slow and steady.

Next they found Kala RH77 was high mid rocks. They were surprised to see there was another seal with her. Turned out to be Lefty RG28.
