12/01/2020 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Sandra W.
Sandra sent a video of some time she spent watching Ka'ena RO40 today. Thank you Sandra for sharing.

Team Billand was up and at em early checking out the bay. They watched a beautiful sunrise but it wasn't until 7:30 that they spotted a seal from afar. They were able to determine it was Nalu R3CX.

Team Billand check out a few other sites, they found Kekoa Alii just before 1 pm. He was on mid high rocks sleeping. Initially he was on his belly and when he turned over they could see he was starting his molt on his chest.  There had been another seal in the area but by the time they got there the seal was gone.65

They returned to the bay after an appointment, just as they got there they spotted two seals fighting by
the jetty. It was R3CX Nalu and RH48 Lei Ola, guess they were having a lovers spat.  After fighting for a bit they moved into the school of fish and spent the rest of the time foraging.
Then Robert sees another seal it was RN44 snoozing on the edge of the rocks. He just layed there with the surf washing over him. He stayed on the same position the entire time.

The waves were huge at Ka'ena west.... and listening to the News the north shore is expecting exceptionally high surf 35' and west side 25' waves..... PLEASE if anyone going out tomorrow please be careful.
