12/29/2020 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley.  Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

At 7 am Team Billand arrived at the bay. Nalu R3CX was the first seal spotted coming into the bay. He would spend the day foraging and they never saw him haul out during their two visit.  Lei Ola RH48 was in the bay long enough for them to ID, but then she disappeared. Little dude RL20 Kalua was out there foraging like crazy. Then suddenly he landed to the left side rocks and remained all day.

RN44 was foraging as usual, then he landed up on rocks to his favorite spot for the rest of the day. He

is looking very green these days.

At 1:37 pm Team Billand returned to the bay for another check and to their surprise they noticed a fat seal hauling up on shore at restcamp. They called the hotline, then called the restcamp and asked if the could put some cones up for the seal. The woman at the restcamp was very nice and mentioned she already spoke to someone about doing that. While Team Billand watched from afar they saw a lifeguard place orange cones around the seal. All the folks at the camp were respectful.

Team Billand headed over to tracks and when they arrived the beach was crowded and there lay two seals. There was RN14 Kalani along side his bosom buddy Kaale RH32. Volunteer Melina was on site and placed signs for the duo.

Just about 12:30 at another westside beach they saw R407 Kawika. Melina put a couple of signs for him too. He was in a deep sleep with lots of people around.
