Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:21 to 2:13 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
Initially alone on the Lanikai side of LPB was R416: small adult size, mottled male belly, no tags. This could also be R430, but Marilyn believes the ventral marks look more like R416.
Nearer the back of LPB was a Sub-adult Unknown: sub-adult size, light belly, no info on sex or tags.
Later R416 moved nearer to a Weaner Unknown 1, and then entered the LPB channel. A short time later Marilyn saw R416 near the SU who had moved to the Lanikai side of LPB.
In the middle of LPB was Weaner Unknown 1: weaner to juvenile size, no info on sex or tags because the seal never changed position.
On the 1BS side of LPB was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, about 30% molted, female belly, no tags seen.
Team R&B first find on the west side was the lovely Miss Kala RH76. She was alone today and hidden in the rocks.
Then they spotted a tiny seal on shore way up by a rock. A guy who had got close to Kala for a photo was now near the little seal. Team R&B saw the tag RV20 and didn't recognize it, also an applied bleach N50. Checking in with the posse they learned this little male was born in January to mom Kaimana RJ58. They were so excited to meet thisnew little guy. Team R&B notified the hotline of RV50s location and that there were dogs in the area. Thankfully Team R&B was able to ask them to hold the dog because of the seal, one guy did but the woman wasn't able get the smaller dog. They passed by Whew!
They got a text from posse pal Carol of two seals at the cove. So they headed over to check it out. The two seals were way up on shore by the bushes. There was RP28 Wakea and RL20 Kalua. Posse pal Carol put out signs and stayed to keep an eye on the seals. Mahalo!
They decided to check nimitz and there was R407 Kawika. He was in the same spot as yesterday resting comfortably. They couldn't see if he begun his molt, he was too sandy.
Team R&B made their way to plains and saw a seal that had them a little confused. They saw the scar under belly like Makalii and RP28, but then they saw a tag. They were surprised to see it was RH92 Nalani. She looks clean and shiny with her recently molted new coat. Then they noticed her right head scar, scar under belly and the other CC scar on her flipper. It's been a while since they have seen her.
Heading back to the west side to check on Kala. When they got there she was gone, but there was a smaller green seal. They thought it was RM31 and they were right. He finally showed his tag. They wondered what happened during the time they were gone. There were some tourist who came by taking photos of RM31 Kai, and became very aware of them and left the area.
They took a chance to see if there were any seals at another west side location. There was a big male, with lots of green on its coat. They believe this is R3CX Nalu. They didn't stay in the area long as the area is kind of sketchy. Thankfully the seal was fine and resting peacefully.
