8/18/2014 DB's Dailies: Duke,Nani&Kainoa@RI, Buster@BH&SB, Kaiwi@CW, Kolohe@GR&Maili Pt, Pohaku@Nanakuli, M&M@WP

At 0713 I found Duke (RA12) and Nani (RK60), fronting 1BS on Rabbit Island. They would remain all day.

At 1038 Kainoa (RN04) would haul out 40 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet on RI.
At 0740 I found what would prove to be Buster (RV08) doing 9 minute dives. He was still there on my 1241 recheck, but began swimming toward Sandy Beach at 1253, arriving at the west end tide pools at 1257, with fans right there to great him. I relocated to Sandy Beach, and Buster began hauling out just as I got there at 1308. I cordoned him off and he remains. I picked up the stuff at dark. Buster remains.

At 1145 Gayle called with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at China Walls.

At 0607 Team Billand reported Kolohe (RW22) foraging at Guard Rails. They would see him again briefly at Maili Pt, as he was just entering the water.

At 1134 he finally hauled out to Maili Guard Rails.

At 0700 they reported Pohaku (RO28) at another location, but still in Nanakuli.

At 0731 the Billands reported M&M (R020) between the Surf Shack and Tower#1. She would enter the water at 0825. She was back at the showers at 1433. Mahalos to Jean & Shelley.

I wish more volunteers would help with guarding poor Pohaku out in NANAKULI.

She gets disturbed daily...she needs to rest. If anyone can help and sit with her, please call me. I feel worried for Pohaku.

She moves every day, to different SPOTS..thinking she will be safe..NOPE...dogs come, idiots come..what can we do here?

All I ask is for one hour or two hour watches...so she can do her molt in PEACE.

We try to stop by every day, hoping to find her, and each day, she moves. Yesterday she was in a dirty spot, with rubbish, and keawe tree branches. We checked on her three times in between our searches. She comes so close to the wall..then she becomes a victim as everyone can see her.

If anyone can help, dont hesitate to do so. Give this seal protection..and PEACE to molt.

Actually folks, please sign up for the calendar if you can help watch after Pohaku. You can sign up on White Plains or Ko'olina calendar. Glad she has moved out of the beach park areas and more in a residental neighborhood. Met some super nice people that kept kids away and respected the animal. I was very grateful and there was a lot of Aloha. Dana
