Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:04 to 2:45 pm and there were eight seals seen during that time.
On the back Lanikai side of LPB were RH76 Kala and PO11. The pup was mostly hidden behind mom for the first part of her visit. At 1:46 pm, one of the weaners RU38 started hauling out in the direction of Kala who vocalized and RU38 turned around and headed onto the rock flats. Later she hauled out next to the cliff at the back of LPB. Marilyn saw her both in a tide pool and then again when she moved up the base of the cliff. Later PO11 did nurse and then mom and pup went into snooze mode.
In the middle of LPB were three seals, Sub-Adult Male 1 and RL12 Aukai and PO12.
SM1: sub-adult to adult size, golden male belly, unsure about tags, some sort of scar at the top of the LFF.
RL12 Aukai and PO12 were some distance apart when Marilyn first spotted them and after Mom vocalized the pup moved up to mom. At about 2:25 pm, RL12 and PO!2 went into the water and hauled back out about 2:43 pm. The pup then nursed.
Weaner RU24 was on waterfront rocks between 1BS and 2BS. He was ID'd by his weaner size, shape and coloration, two red tags and male belly.
At 1:22 pm, Marilyn noticed a seal way on the Makapuu side of RRB. The seal may have been there earlier. This seal is labeled as Sub-adult Male 2: sub-adult size, mottled tan ventral, male belly. Marilyn thinks he also had a scar on top base of the LFF. Based on the mottled male belly and size, this might be TempN25.
Team R&B made their way to plains and FINALLY solved who the mystery male that has been escorting Lei Ola RH48. The beach was jam packed and the Lifeguards had a zone set up for the seals. The male is RH32 Kaale! He finally was in a position where they were able to see his cc scar near the right fore flipper. They had thought it was him, but couldn't confirm it until today.
On their next stop someone told them they saw one seal flying by them just before Team R&B arrived. They searched and waited around for a while. There were fishers on the rocks but no seals. They never found any seals. But they did see the amazing dolphins out and about.
On their way home they saw lots of black smoke from the fire in Maili. The fire trucks, police and helicopters were all out. The announcement came for people to evacuate. Team R&B made it home and their poor dogs were so nervous from the sounds and smells. They're okay and my prayers go out to all affected by this.
