July 15, 2025 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Team R&B received a text this morning of two seals at plains. So they hurried over skipping all their usual stops. When they arrived there was the two love birds, RH32 Kaale and RH48 Lei Ola.  They noticed immediately that Miss Lei Ola has officially started her molt. They also noted that most of it seems to be on her butt and hind flippers.
The two lovers got into an argument, Lei Ola let him have it. Guess she needs her beauty rest to get through her molt.
Around 10 am, Lei Ola galumphed her way to the waterline, RH32 followed her with amazing speed. Then he rolled into the water, and didn't hang around like he has been doing for the last two weeks. They didn't see which direction he headed off to.

They headed west to check out the usual spots and were thrilled to find another seal at pokai. It was
R3CX Nalu. They looked him over and noted there were two different line scratched on the top of his head.
They only had five minutes with him, as a group of jumpers came and R3CX got nervouse with all the yelling and movement on the rocks.  He started moving making his way to exit. He headed int he direction of the jetty.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:21 to 3:13 pm and there were eight seals seen during that time.
Out on the rock flats on the Lanika side of LPB were two seals:
The molting Adult Female: adult size, about 90% molted, female belly and two red tags. Later the AF moved over near the moms and pups on LPB.
Nearby was one of the weaners. When the weaner finally show its belly Marilyn was able to determine it was RU24 due to his male belly. He was around for a while, then Marilyn lost sight of him.
Initially on LPB were Mom and Pup 1 (Marilyn thinks they were RL12 and PO12 but can't say for sure.) The pup nursed for awhile and then they went into snooze mode. The pair headed into the water not long before she left.
At 1:52 pm, Mom and Pup2 hauled out to LPB and immediately started nursing.
Both moms and pups look healthy. The pups are packing in the pounds. Hopefully Marilyn can determine the pups sex.
At 1:58 pm, Marilyn spotted a Juvenile Female between the 1BS and 2BS. The JF has an old coat, two red tags and is very green.
At 2:32 pm, one of the weaners hauled out to the JF. Marilyn thinks the visitor was RU38 female. There was a brief interaction between the JF and RU38. Then they went into the snooze mode.
At 2:37 pm, Marilyn notice the other weaner had hauled out near the 1BS.
