Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:59 to 3:02 pm and there were eight seals seen during that time.
On the back Lanikai side of LPB was RH76 Kala and her male pup PO11. They were mostly in snooze mode and never really moved. The pup did start nursing near the end of her viewing session.
Initially in the middle of LPB of LPB were RL12 Aukai and her male pup PO12. They entered the water at 2:12 pm and hauled out near the 1BS at 2:27 pm. Both mom and pup seem to be doing fine. Marilyn suspects Aukai will wean her pup later in the weak.
Near 3BS were three seals:
Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, old coat, female belly and two red tags.
Weaner RU24 was ID'd by his weaner size and shape, two red tags and light male belly.
Adult Female: adult size, new coat, medium gray female belly, scar on ventral neck and two red tags.
Between 3BS and SRI was a seal labeled as a Juvenile Female: large juvenile size, two red tags and yellow female belly.
Team R&B first find today was an adult with lots of green. There was a ding on its head and no tags were visible. They reported it as an Unknown Adult hoping NOAA can make the ID. They thought maybe it was R420 but just couldn't make the call.
They headed over to plains and finally after 4 weeks RH48 Lei Ola is done molting. She is looking good. Team R&B noticed a couple of scars on her lower side they had never seen before. Let's see how long before she heads out of the area and gets a couple of good meals.
They went to give the lifeguard back a flag and sign they had picked up out of the sand yesterday. TheLifeguard told them there was a seal at yoks and they should put the sign up there. So off they went and found RW02 PvKauai among many fans. Having the sign out didn't matter, people kept walking by RW02 while he was snoozing. At one point a very little boy ran towards the seal, and RW02 postured. The dad yelled out for the little one. Glad everyone was safe, but seriously.
